When Shovels Break by Michael Shank

When Shovels Break:

"This is a true story about John - a Christian man who is at the brink of suicide. Struggles, discouragement, and John's improper expectations of what God was "supposed" to do for his life caused John to leave his faith and the Lord's body, the church.

John went back into every form of sin imaginable: alcoholism, drug abuse, adultery, and pornography - just as a dog returns to its vomit. John's shame and guilt, his failure to provide for his family, and the loss of all hope that God could ever forgive him brings John to a terrifying moment... holding a shotgun to his chin. He starts to pull the trigger...

Can God forgive this wretch of a man? Is it possible for John to be restored and to be able to return to Jesus Christ? This raw, gritty, true story grabs the reader from beginning to end. It is a story about the real life of a discouraged Christian, and it is a story of hope, love, and the redemption found through the grace of God!

Be prepared – this story will shock you. When Shovels Break is the sequel to Muscle and a Shovel. It is a true, candid, and raw story about a Christian couple who falls away from the Lord, their faith, and the Lord’s church; returning to a world of sin far worse than before their conversion. This true story, written in novel form, addresses the seriousness of Christians who fall away, the possibility of God's love, His grace and His incredible forgiveness! "

Why I Believe in the God of the Bible by Brett Rutherford

Why I Believe in the God of the Bible

"Do religion and science have to be separated? Can we really understand the origin and workings of the universe without studying the Bible, and accepting God's existence?

Brett Rutherford provides evidence from physics, biology and astronomy that points to a supernatural origin for the universe.

He also examines the text of the Bible in light of evidence from science, history and archaeology to determine if the Bible could have come from the Supernatural Force who created the universe.

"Why I Believe in the God of the Bible" is a thirteen chapter book with review questions at the end of each chapter - ideal for Bible classes." Amazon

About Brett Rutherford:

Are Our Religious Practices Conformed to the Scriptures

To ALL my religious friends, are your religious practices based completely on the accuracy of the Scriptures? (2 Tim 3:16-17, 2 Pet 1:3)

I ask this because I see so many of my "religious" friends that choose to worship with groups based on, "where they feel comfortable, the type of programs a place has, the type of people that are there, and all other kinds of reasons."

Let's Leave Our Opinions Out

Let's worship where we know that truth is taught and that truth is confirmed by the word of God. Let's not worship anyplace where man decides what truth is.

Where I preach, I encourage the brethren to study what I teach in class and from the pulpit. If I have spoken in error, I ask that they show me my error according to the Scriptures.  I am by no means perfect and sometimes I misspeak or may have a misunderstanding on a subject. (We can all study more!)

By no means should anyone stand before judgement with a list of excuses for not worshiping God correctly, and on top of that list have the words, "Well my preacher said..." We must remember that no one is going to be taking our place because we followed someone else's error.

We must hunger and thirst for righteousness (Matt 5:6), and we must be students of God's word by being in the word. (2 Tim 2:15)
