When Shovels Break by Michael Shank

When Shovels Break:

"This is a true story about John - a Christian man who is at the brink of suicide. Struggles, discouragement, and John's improper expectations of what God was "supposed" to do for his life caused John to leave his faith and the Lord's body, the church.

John went back into every form of sin imaginable: alcoholism, drug abuse, adultery, and pornography - just as a dog returns to its vomit. John's shame and guilt, his failure to provide for his family, and the loss of all hope that God could ever forgive him brings John to a terrifying moment... holding a shotgun to his chin. He starts to pull the trigger...

Can God forgive this wretch of a man? Is it possible for John to be restored and to be able to return to Jesus Christ? This raw, gritty, true story grabs the reader from beginning to end. It is a story about the real life of a discouraged Christian, and it is a story of hope, love, and the redemption found through the grace of God!

Be prepared – this story will shock you. When Shovels Break is the sequel to Muscle and a Shovel. It is a true, candid, and raw story about a Christian couple who falls away from the Lord, their faith, and the Lord’s church; returning to a world of sin far worse than before their conversion. This true story, written in novel form, addresses the seriousness of Christians who fall away, the possibility of God's love, His grace and His incredible forgiveness! "

Why I Believe in the God of the Bible by Brett Rutherford

Why I Believe in the God of the Bible

"Do religion and science have to be separated? Can we really understand the origin and workings of the universe without studying the Bible, and accepting God's existence?

Brett Rutherford provides evidence from physics, biology and astronomy that points to a supernatural origin for the universe.

He also examines the text of the Bible in light of evidence from science, history and archaeology to determine if the Bible could have come from the Supernatural Force who created the universe.

"Why I Believe in the God of the Bible" is a thirteen chapter book with review questions at the end of each chapter - ideal for Bible classes." Amazon

About Brett Rutherford:

Are Our Religious Practices Conformed to the Scriptures

To ALL my religious friends, are your religious practices based completely on the accuracy of the Scriptures? (2 Tim 3:16-17, 2 Pet 1:3)

I ask this because I see so many of my "religious" friends that choose to worship with groups based on, "where they feel comfortable, the type of programs a place has, the type of people that are there, and all other kinds of reasons."

Let's Leave Our Opinions Out

Let's worship where we know that truth is taught and that truth is confirmed by the word of God. Let's not worship anyplace where man decides what truth is.

Where I preach, I encourage the brethren to study what I teach in class and from the pulpit. If I have spoken in error, I ask that they show me my error according to the Scriptures.  I am by no means perfect and sometimes I misspeak or may have a misunderstanding on a subject. (We can all study more!)

By no means should anyone stand before judgement with a list of excuses for not worshiping God correctly, and on top of that list have the words, "Well my preacher said..." We must remember that no one is going to be taking our place because we followed someone else's error.

We must hunger and thirst for righteousness (Matt 5:6), and we must be students of God's word by being in the word. (2 Tim 2:15)

Pressing Forward Bible-Based Addiction Recovery by Trent Childers

Pressing Forward: Bible-Based Addiction Recovery

"Millions of people are enslaved by addiction every year. Alcohol and drug abuse, gambling, pornography, and other vices consume relationships, wreck marriages, and ruin lives. The slaves of addiction lose their freedom, dignity, and authority as their lives are overwhelmed by ceaseless compulsion.

During his ministry, Jesus preached the good news to the poor, proclaimed liberty to the captives, and freed the oppressed. Modern followers of Jesus continue the Lord’s work by seeking to help those who have been shackled by addiction. In order to escape the terror of addiction, addicts must be introduced to the Prince of Peace.

Pressing Forward offers freedom to those who are lost in the darkness of addiction and directs those who are ensnared in their own minds to the liberating power of the Gospel.

Pressing Forward is a Bible-based addiction recovery system that can be implemented by individuals, churches, and small groups in order to lead addicts to true liberation. Trent Childers, a gospel preacher and addiction advocate, divides Pressing Forward into three concise sections that defines addiction, offers biblical counsel about overcoming addiction, and leads to a life of faithfulness to Jesus. Each section is motivating and positive, encouraging those who are slaves of addiction to trust in a Lord that can provide eternal relief." (Amazon)

The Book God "Breathed" by Keith A. Mosher, Sr.

Keith Mosher, Memphis School of Preaching, MSOP, General Bible Studies, Introduction to Bible, Larry Elliott, Susan Elliott, Church of Christ Men AuthorsAbout The Book God "Breathed"

"The very foundation of Christianity is the fact that Jesus Christ is the "only begotten Son of God" (John 3:16). But, what assurance exists that He is deity, except that the Holy Scriptures are proven to be the infallible message from God? Since the Bible was written by human beings for human beings, man's very hope rests upon the question, "Could the Scriptures be the very Word of God, though penned by men?" Brother Mosher will affirm the answer to be "yes!" --Curtis Cates"

Keith A. Mosher, Sr. is an instructor at the Memphis School of Preaching. "Brother Mosher teaches Greek, General Biblical Introduction, Holy Spirit, Bible, Logic, Expository Preaching, Hebrew History, and Parables at Memphis School of Preaching. He is a staff writer for the "Gospel Journal" and has written "Can One Trust His English Bible" (a tract), "Romans: A Study Outline," and "The Book God Breathed," a three volume in one tome study of biblical inspiration, canonicity, and how the Bible came to be. The volume on inspiration has also been published in Russia. He is also the author of "The New Heavens and New Earth," and "Faith Development Tools," and has numerous articles in periodicals and lectureship books." (MSOP)

From Church of Christ Men Authors:

This is an astounding book and includes all three versions in one volume. It makes a great addition to any preaching library, and would work well for adult and high school Bible classes.
